Radio ThaSauce – Post MAGFest Review

What’s up everyone?  I just got back from MAGFest, which is still going on, and I must say, it was absolutely EPIC as always, but even more so this year!

Jon St. John, the voice of Duke Nukem and Big the Cat, as well as Sid Meier, the father of modern gaming, were in attendance at MAGFest this year, and they were most definitely welcomed with open arms.  Not only in attendance, but also participating in not only a panel but a game (Powerpoint Jeopardy) was Jon St. JohnSid Meier, accomplished musician as well, joined in on the fun in two separate instances of jamming in the one and only Jamspace at MAGFest.  Many had the opportunity to sing with Sid Meier to the tune of Rocket Man, as well as hear a rendition of a popular Eagles song called Hotel Civilization.  Epic times to be had!

The list of great things that happened this year also grew to include 12 vg inspired bands including The Megas, Armcannon, This Place is Haunted, Rare Candy, Temp Sound Solutions and more to rock out in the Concert Hall.

MAGFest also had it share of DJs bringing in the start of the New Year with style and flair, including q-pa, Renard and more!

For those of you who are fans of both ThaSauce and OverClocked ReMix, both sites once again had great panels at MAGFest this year! There are new changes coming to OCR, including a new blogging feature, ratings, and much more! ThaSauce has also had a stellar year having had a complete redesign released as well as an improved Remix: ThaSauce going live!

For those of you with a flair for cooking, the first ever MAGFest Iron Chef competition was, for lack of a better word, HOT! Three teams competed for the title of Iron Chef, but only one came out on top; TEAM REMIX!  Comprised of injury (starla of OCReMix and ThaSauce), Ramaniscence (of ThaSauce) and Vilecat (of OCReMix), they came and conquered the competition with style!  This author looks forward to their next culinary masterpiece!

Dwelling of Duels held its annual listening party Saturday night, all night. Results are forthcoming, and will be posted on http://dod.vgmix.com. It was a great competition and they had many tracks to listen to and take in.

OverClocked After Dark, the newest podcast addition to the OverClocked ReMix family (of podcasts), has taken the internet by storm! Featured at the OCReMix panel via a new video as well as its hosts, Brushfire, Level 99 and Epicenter, OCAD has embarked on a journey to make you laugh, possibly cry, and help you find a new found love for monster trucks!

Show Notes – 11/06/09

Hey everyone, it’s been a while, but I’m still alive and kickin’ it.
So here we are in November, first show of the month of course, and I’ve got plenty of awesome news for all of you.

In the last month, we’ve seen two new albums from OverClocked ReMix; Humans + Gears: Xenogears Remix (http://xenogears.ocremix.org) and Castlevania: Sonata of the Damned (http://sotd.ocremix.org).  Both are excellent albums, and you can torrent them both from their respective sites.  For these and more great tracks, check out OverClocked ReMix at http://ocremix.org!

Have you heard the news about the “other” podcast?  That’s right, OverClocked ReMix now has a second “Official” (sorta!) podcast called OverClocked After Dark.  Your’s truly was there for episode 2, and believe me, I had a wonderful time recording it with Brushfire and Level 99.  Check it out by reading the thread at OCReMix: http://ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=26119.

Daniel Floyd, alias sephfire, just released a new video titled Video Games and Facing Controversy. Check it out at OCReMix: http://ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?p=611175&posted=1#post611175.

Two very important conventions/festivals coming up, first January 1 through January 4, MAGFest!  Check out http://www.magfest.org for more information on events, pre-registration, the New Year’s Eve Party, hotel rooms, and much much more!  Also, PAX East is coming! Apology

I just wanted to take a moment to apologize for the lack of a show last Friday (October 23).  I had not been feeling well, and had been suffering from near-migraine headaches.  Unfortunately, this means that doing anything related to the show was out of the question.  Therefore, I did not host the show.  No worries however, as I shall be back on November 6, with a new show.

See you soon!

Game Conventions you Should Attend

While checking my Facebook, something I do way more often than I should, I stumbled upon a link from none other than the MAGFest Group.  The link itself takes you to a blog that talks about the “7 Game Conventions to Attend Before You Die”.  To see this site, please click here.

After having read the entire blog, I definitely have to agree with their choices, especially MAGFest and PAX.  California Extreme looks really awesome as well, and I will definitely have to look for an opportunity (read: excuse) to be in attendence.

10/9/09 – Post Show Recap

Well, in all honesty, I’m writing this ahead of the end of the show. Half an hour ahead of the end of the show. No big deal though. I covered some things that I wanted to, so I’m happy. It’s been a really hectic two weeks personally. A lot of things going on at work, though home life has been good to me. Anyway, this week, links include:

http://www.mreomusic.com — Metroid Reorchestrated
http://www.magfest.org — MAGFest (duh!)

Those are the big ones. :) That’s about it for the show, it was mostly music and mashups n’ stuff. See you in two.

Wild ARMs Project @ OCR

A few days ago, and as recently reported by ThaSauce, a Wild ARMs Project, Overture of the Vigilante Wild (tentative title) has been announced.  Directed by the wife of famed OC Remixer bLiNd, JaDE ARaN HaRuNo, this looks to be an excellent addition to the many projects that OCR is currently awaiting delivery, such as the Donkey Kong Country 2, and Lufia albums.  According to ThaSauce, as well as the thread for the project at OCR, legendary Remixer McVaffe and Remixer AmIEvil (a name not heard in ages), are on the project as well as Pot Hocket, FF Music DJ, Fishy, Nekofrog, ilp0 and many more!
This project looks to be one for the ages as it features many new and old faces that we’ve all come to know at OverClocked Remix.  I for one am definitely looking forward to this project!

We’ll also be listening to some new OC Remixes tonight, including one I just listened to by tefnek, it’s oh so good, I can’t wait to share it!

Also, I’m going to be giving a big shout out tonight to someone who is more than deserving of praise. You’ll hear who on tonight’s Radio ThaSauce Live!

Random News

So last weekend was the OverClocked Remix Meet Up in Philadelphia, Pa.  Hosted by zircon (Andrew Aversa), Pixietricks (Jillian Aversa, yes they’re married, HOORAY!!) and newcomer (and awesome guy) Brushfire (David Hubbard).  It was a great weekend, full of fun times, plenty of food, and frisbee!  I definitely enjoyed meeting new friends, and seeing old ones as well.  Loads of great times!  Also, listen in this week to the VGDJ Podcast (http://www.vgdj.net) for something very awesome (I am reluctant to say what it is, because I don’t want to ruin the awesome surprise)!

In other news, I will be spending some time soon working on themes for this blog as part of a learning experiment on my part to upgrade/update my own web development skills (of which I’m really only good at HTML and CSS).  That’s all for now, keep it here!
